It is not about making "more" product, but about making all products more efficiently.

Why is Industry 4.0 a big topic these days?

Quite simply, the goal of Industry 4.0 is to drive initiatives to improve manufacturing and provide a competitive advantage. It is not necessarily about making more product, but the ability to make it more efficiently.

Why is IIoT so important?

Industrial Internet of Things is about connectivity. The cloud provides an open architecture that ALL platforms can communicate through. It also provides a layer of security between the manufacturing process and the users accessing the data.

Is IIoT really just data collection?

IIoT is a means to provide data collection and provide it on a platform that is independent of the production floor. Yes, we have been collecting data for many years so this is not new but the ability to make the available across many platforms is.
